Job Title Day Shift Supervisor

Description

The People Bank Mississauga location is currently searching for a Day Shift Supervisor to work for our client, an Arts & Crafts Retailer located in the Kennedy and Courtney Park area.

Please note this is a temporary to permanent position paying $18.50/hour with a shift time from 7am-3:30pm.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for guiding all areas within their department to achieve the daily production and quality requirements. Prompt attendance at work is an essential function of this job.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure daily productivity level goals are met
• Supervise between 5-35 associates
• Work closely with Production Manager to identify staffing needs, address operational issues for continuous improvements, and assist with implementation of operational standards or processes
• Monitor and document the hourly productivity of each position within the department to meet daily goals
• Coordinate with Production Manager in developing team members to conduct inventory count
• Supervise and verify that the following is accomplished:
- Consistently maintain quality standards within the department
- Ensure that the associates are writing their employee numbers on the tickets
- Troubleshoot and perform general maintenance on machine when needed
- Operators are performing their minimum production requirement
• Communicate with other department supervisors to address and correct issues
• Follow up with the Lead to ensure that the daily production requirements are met
• Promote the “Team Approach” policy and identify key associates to cross train in other areas of the shop to meet the daily production goals
• Document productivity by entering daily numbers into production spread sheets and posting them on the board
• Create an environment of open communication
• Provide continuous verbal feed back regarding performance
• Enforce company policies and safety practices in a fair and consistent manner, utilizing the disciplinary action process when appropriate
• Coordinate with department lead to train employees in their assigned positions
• Participate in department meetings to address issues and reiterate policies and procedures pertaining to standards and processes
• Ensure that materials and tools are well stocked and that items are used in an efficient manner
• Perform any additional responsibilities given by management
• Complete employee midyear/yearly reviews within a timely manner

Requirements:

• Must be able to respond to associates’ needs and concerns and effectively supervise associates
• Possess strong communication skills
• Have the ability to act as a role model and leader
• Must be able to resolve complex issues relating to the day to day operations within the department
• Must think positive and keep an open mind when encountering new ideas
• Must show respect and courtesy to all employees, managers, and vendors
• Must show initiative and take action to prevent issues
• Must set an example for others to follow at all times
• Must be flexible to work early or extended work hours, be detail-oriented, and capable of juggling multiple/changing priorities and deadlines with minimal direction
• Must be able to walk and/or stand for as long as 10 hours per day
• Frequently lift up to 30lbs above shoulder and reach above head
• Must be able to safely push and pull weights up to 45lbs.
• Must possess basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Out Look)
